Marlon Brando in “A Streetcar Named Desire”…

Okay my dear friends, you know your old cougar momma Melbie is OLD, really OLD (63 to be exact)… and I have a confession to make. I loved Marlon Brando before I loved Robert Pattinson, even before the Beatles.

When I was a young girl of 12 - 13 years (before Beatlemania) - I fell in love with Fletcher Christian, portrayed by Marlon Brando in the 1962 film “Mutiny on the Bounty”…thereby becoming fascinated with everything Marlon Brando. I even sent a letter to him and got a signed photo back from him (which I lost long ago).

I was only one year old when the 1951 classic film “A Streetcar Named Desire” came out, and when I watched it at age 13, I did NOT like it…Stanley was a filthy mean bum! But since those days, I’ve come to admire the film and the fabulous performance of Brando in it….and he wasn’t bad to look at either, especially in the ever-present t-shirt, especially the “wife-beater” shirt.

FYI for those of you who don’t know, I’m pretty sure the term “wife-beater shirt” originates from the film “A Streetcar Named Desire”, where Brando’s character Stanley beats his wife while wearing a skimpy sleeveless shirt - Brando was nearly ALWAYS wearing a wife-beater or a t-shirt in the film…. and so, the term wearing a “wife-beater” came to be.

Okay, enough of my Retro Stuff!
